Well done!... I've a feeling that this is the start of something big..... An aquarist is born!

It is really quite funny.. My husband wanted a fish tank for a long time and he kept putting it off.. I finally made him get one.. So he "borrowed" a friends (who doesnt do fishy things anymore).. It was a 30 gallon tank!! I bought a couple mollies cause I thought they were pretty fish and hubby picked out all his tetra's and danio's ect.. there is our 30 gallon tank and we are happy..

HOWEVER!!!!! LOL... My molly had babies.. yikes.. I set up a 10 gallon thinking I would keep the babies in there and everything would go smooth.. Well hubby decided he wanted oscars.. LOL.. sooo.. he got himself a 55 gallon tank for his oscars.. Well we were misinformed and realized that the 55 isnt big enough for the oscars so out we go to buy a 125 gallon tank.. yikes!!!

The story then carries on due to my oldest son wanting his own tank for his betta.. So we officially have too many tanks..haha..

125 gallon - oscars
55 gallon - assorted livebearers and tetra's (evil fish I dont like but cant part with as hubby likes them)
30 gallon - empty for now.. son asking daddy to set up for sharks
10 gallon - betta, neon tetra's (sons tank)
10 gallon - assorted babies
10 gallon - feeder fish (ugh I hate that..but they are my husbands so I cant do much about it)

Yup.. a bit fish crazy.. sigh.. How did I become so addicted??????

The 30 gallon would be a good place to start getting your mollies bigger MollyGirls. Don't give away the space while you still have a good use for it.

I look at your tank list and it doesn't really look like very much. You have a big tank for some very large fish and the rest are a single 55 and a few small tanks. There is probably lots of space for more or larger tanks if you really decide to get serious about keeping fish.

I keep my community assortment of fish in my 125.
I have a single 55 that I am using to grow out my molly drop of about 30 fry.
My daughter just gave me back my old 60 gallon and its stand but it needs the top brace repaired before I fill it with water.
The 40 long has a breeding colony of Ameca splendens, butterfly goodeids, in it.
I have 2 of the 29 gallon tanks, one holds a failed endler breeding experiment and the other some green goodeids.
Then there are the 4 20 gallon tanks holding a wild endler colony, a pair of killies, a small group of wild green swordtails and in the last one a group of Corydoras hastatus.
There are also the 45 with some of the endler colony, because their 20 became over crowded and the 40 breeder that holds a breeding colony of leopard goodeids.
That is about it for large to medium tanks. There are also the 10 gallon with the Brachyrhaphis roseni in it, the 10 that is holding the Goodea gracilis, the 10 with the Limia perugia, the 10 that holds a small colony of Heterandria formosa, the 10 that holds my wife's guppies, the 10 with the Limia melanogasters, the 5 1/2 that is holding a pair of orange tailed goodeids, Xenotoca eiseni, and finally 2 empty tanks that I expect to fill at a fish auction in 2 weeks.

I may have forgotten one but that is the tanks. Just thought of another container that I use. I have a 150 gallon stock tank set up in the back yard to grow out my fish during the summer. This year it has some Xenotoca eiseni in it but last year I used it to grow my wild green swordtails to adult size. An outdoor tub is the ideal location to grow out young fish because they seem to grow faster and do so much better outdoors than in an aquarium. I don't worry too much about feeding the tub because insects come along all the time and land in the water. They seldom get to fly away again so the fish are almost self feeding. I do feed them 2 or 3 times a week just in case the insects have not been arriving often enough.

I am starting to think that I have may soon have too many tanks but there are still lots of places in my home for more. Most of mine are set up with 2 levels of tank on the same stand so that I don't burn up too much floor space with my tanks.

WOW!!! That is a lot of tanks..

Hubby wont let me get anymore or bigger right now because of the three kids, 4 cats and dog.. I told him there is more room for them if we think about space.. I have an empty laundry room that would look lovely with a 55 gallon in there.. However he said not right now.. sigh..

I just post an ad on Kijiji and give my babies away once they are big enough.. I honestly dont know enough about fish keeping yet.. I am still learning as I go.. I just picked up 4 guppies (my very first).. The baby guppies I have are from the LFS.. They were swimming around in the tank with the adults and I couldnt bear to see anything happen to them so I asked the LFS what they did with them and they gave me all the babies they had in the tanks.. Hence the ballon mollies and guppies.. I dont (or didnt until yesterday) own any at all..

I actually didnt want a fish tank in my house at all when hubby mentioned wanting one.. and look at me now.. I am more into it then he is.. Apparently I spend way too much money on the fish right now.. LOL

I will keep your post in mind next time I approch the topic of more tanks with hubby..

Thanks Oldman I appreciate you taking the time to reply.. :)

I have found that a good way to hold down costs is to belong to my local fish club. Trading fish with fellow members beats buying fish at the LFS several ways. The fish are almost always in very good health, the cost is minimal and you have a ready outlet for your surplus. It is also a way to get fish that you will never see anywhere else, like my goodeids, the Heteramdria formosa, the wild type green swords and the Brachyrhaphis.
