So a few weeks ago i came to the decision that i was going to add a pair of convicts to my tank, and i have been waiting ever since for them to breed, since they are convicts and it would for sure happen eventually! It is 10:40 and for the last couple hours ive noticed my pair staying inside the same cave ( homemade coconut cave :) ) and i can see what looks like tiny bumps on the inside edge of the cave! Looks like shes laying eggs! So now its just a waiting game! :) Am i correct that it takes 2-4 days for the eggs to hatch and then another 2-4 for the fry to become free swimming?

I hope you have nothing fragile with the Convicts and a suitably large tank, the parents will massacre anything near their babies.

Nope nothing fragile. Its a five foot long tank with barbs. I also made one end of the tank a little ore of a convict environment, with a few large and small rocks, a rock cave and a coconut cave. It actually worked, so now all he other fish get the rest of the tank and the cons have their own little area.
