Wooooooooooo, my T bar Cichlids Cryptoheros/Cichlasoma Sajica have had babies again. I know it's not particually hard to breed them but still im so happy. :D Hopefully the parents are now more experienced and more babies will survive :D Just thought Id share the good news.
Pictures of the first babies are here

That's awesome!!!! I just picked up a pair of Cryptoheros sajica this past week and they have already spawned. The fry arn't free swimming yet but the parents are doing a great job taking care of them.

Have you seen Cryptoheros myrnae (they also go by Archocentrus myrnae)?? I was having a hard time deciding between them and Cryptoheros sajica but I went with Cryptoheros sajica. In the myrnae the females are more stunning than the males. The female is quite literally metallic gold and blue all on her sides. If you google for pics none show you just how beautiful they are. You gotta see them in person!

Good luck on the fry!

YAY, I also like it when fish have fry.

must get pics ! also , could i see pics of your complete tank/s , I dont think i have seen them before, because you are a sajica fan too.

Hey Elisabeth83, I had never heard of myrnae before but I had a look on google images and they are very stunning. Thanks for the reply.

Hey saboy, Ill see if I can get more pics of them tonight. It's kind of hard to see them with the camera if I remember correctly and if I get to close then the parents quickly herd all the fry back into the cave they spawned in. None the less I will get some in the end tonight lol. To be honest, the tank with them in is so un-attractive. Before they were in there I had a community but then got the community fish out and completely changed the aquascape for the Sajica. The tank looks like or even worse than one at an LFS. Ill take some pictures though and also some pics of my 90 litre (which is much better) with my much more stunning pair of Sajicas in it who havnt bred yet. Ill see if I can get some pics of my 2 and a half month old Sajica fry too.
Thanks for the reply.

I dont mind at all if you say the tank looks bad, have you seen mine ? lol

Thanks, looking forward to the pics !

I looked at Cryptoheros myrnae , I noticed that the archocentrus are now being called Cryptoheros, (why not just keep it the same)

Is there a comman name for the myrnae ?

Yea, but then they are called Archocentrus septemfasciatus , and Archocentrus myrnae

it doesnt really matter, where I buy my fish, the shop label them i the tanks with the scientific name .

Nice tanks,

they look alot better than mine, all mine need is plants and rocks/wood

so you only have t bars ! Cool I like what you have !

Well no. In the 70 there are the T Bars and a Bn plec. In the 90 there is the 2 T Bars, 5 Tiger Barbs, 1 Port Cichlid, 1 Bn plec and 2 small Hoplo catfishes. The 52 litre only has T Bars in. My downstairs tank which is a Juwel Rio 125 has 7 Harlequins, 3 Platies, 2 Keyhole Cichlids, 1 Krib, 3 Black Widows, 4 Cories and a Golden Nugget Plec.
