hello,

Ive been tinking about breeding fish for the past few weeks but i cant seem to decide on what to breed. I want to breed a fish that is popular and people enjoy alot. So here's the question: "What is your favorite fish and why".

Hi Squidman,

If you're still trying to make up your mind, I would like to suggest that you pick out a fish you enjoy keeping and try to successfully care for them for awhile. Then, if you still want to breed them, it would a good thing to do.

Trying to breed a fish you are not totally familiar with is something only an experienced breeder should do. I would also suggest you start out raising some kind of live bearer fry because they are bigger and probably stronger than fry that hatch from eggs. Guppies are a popular fish and many people start out with them.

Is it true that guppies are known for catching diseases though?

Guppies in my oppinion have been in the trade to long, and inbred too many times. I rarel find healthy guppies and most get sick quickley. When i get older i will try to make their bloodline a little more diverse. Because most are crap here in America. I would go with the rams

It's the same for all fish if you don't keep up with a good maintenance routine like water changes and feeding, then you will in the end get problems.

What i think your mainly thinking of are mollies, as these have a major problem at first with fungus and white spot unless your water is perfect for them.
