Ay Ay Ay! Fish Store Stupidity

I also think that alot of the chain petstores who specialise in everything do not really have a clue about the basics of fishkeeping let alone diet, water conditions, lighting, filtration needs of different fishes. If they are asked any specialist questions about a fish they havent a clue on most cases. I like to stick to fish only shops where u know the staff know what they are there for.

I live in the Detroit area of Michigan. We definately have a huge range of LFS/LPS. We have tons of Mom and Pop style fish stores and lots of mainstream stores as well (like Petco and Petsmart). For me though I have to say that the Mom and Pop style places are the best and offer the best advice. However the place that I work next to is a LPS and they have the absolute worst fish tanks I have ever seen. They even have Marine tanks, and even after reading a little bit about SW tanks, all of the tanks display signs of serious disease. It's so unfortunate to see crappy fish tanks, because most people don't even know better.

A good LFS is absolutely priceless.

My LFS has abuncha knowledgeable staff and kids from my school who dont know jack all. Infact i kinda get annoyed when i see them working, and never ask them for anything, shoppers beware man thats all.

Know whos knowledgable then go ahead, it just annoys me someone would take a job like that not knowing ####, i dont know enough about all the fish in that place to sell them, so i didnt take the job, they dont know either atleast they shouldnt frigin act like they do MAN OH MAN.

LOL oh well.
