Hi All,
I've recently upgraded from a beautiful (but small and limiting) Fluval Edge to a Fluval Roma 125.
As I travel quite a bit for work and not all that keen to keep asking other people to feed them for me I'm looking for an automatic fish feeder, but the only ones I can see seem to require the lid of my tank to be removed.

Is there a specific feeder for this tank, or perhaps one that someone could suggest?
I've had little luck in finding anything online that clearly says it would suit!

many thanks

I have use the small and the large Eheim feeders before..
-1 vote for the small
+1 for the large

They still require the lid to be open.

I know Hagen manafacture a lid designed to house a auto feeder, may even come with the lid but how much i don't know. There are proderly cheaper options.

Skins.

Thanks for the replys guys.
I'll look into both options. I did email Fluval customer services a week ago but had nothing back from them!!

Thanks

Automatic Fish Feeder 2X is fine with Roma 125 and 200 (my tanks) If you slide the lid to the side, you can fit the feeder in the corner and it leaves only a tiny hole in that area, if your worried, place a towel over the hole.

:D
When bought mine, I didn't think it worked as I had no indication it was on. But it did work ;)

:good:
Told you that because I done the stupid thing of returning mine the first time I got it  :shout:

im just testing my new ehiem single auto feeder out as i will be away for over 2 weeks at xmas and its good but very easy to over feed fish so its easier to be safe and underfeed them a bit but its still a bit random for what comes out. however the smaller you make to opening for the food to come out i find that the more accurate measurement is dispensed and you can set it to rotate the barrel twice or more if you add another feed into the timer.

i payed £30 for mine and its worth it i think, i wouldnt bother with the twin barrel one as you can just put 2 different types of food in one barrel (well thats what im doing; flake and catfish sinking pellets) its been running 1 1/2 weeks and no problems since the teething problems at the start with reliable feeding amount but as i explained it easily solvable

I have used several feeders as I am also quite a lot away for work (up to 3 -3 weeks at a time). Fluval has one that fits in their hood and you can open and close the space the food falls through in case you are not using the feeder. I find the barrel to be small though. For my 180 litre tank it can't hold enough food to last for my need. So I bought one, which is called europet, but it does require you to keep the lid open. I keep the food lid open anyway because I don't want humidity to affect my wiring/lamps. I am really happy with this feeder; it allows you to set the number of days to feed, as well as 4 feeds a day.

I tend to feed only once a day when I am away. For all feeders it is best to use pellets and no flake foods. When flake gets somewhat humid it will affect your feeder and the food will easily clump together and not come out properly anymore. Furthermore it can affect the mechanism of the feeder. In this way I have already lost 2 feeders.

Good luck!

Hey webmoose

i have the same tank as yours :). I'm looking for a automatic feeder as well. Previously when i was searching for a feeder, i read in some forums that the fluval lid with a hole to attach the feeder is only available in US and not available in the UK  , which is a real pain. Do let us know your experience with the feeder you are getting.

Thanks

That's a shame - seems odd that they wouldn't make that available but I guess they know best!
I'll update you on progress with the auto feeder but I have an idea that my sister is going to buy it for me (Christmas) so it may be a little while.

webmoose, i'm not sure if you are still monitoring this thread, but i have recently contacted Hagen/Fluval customer service and this is what i got from them:

You can buy a flap with a feeder hole for the Roma 125. The price is £15.99, there is a postal charge of £4.00. If you would like to order you can give us a ring on 01977556622 to pay by debit or credit card.

And also the measurements of the feeder hole on the flap is '5cms square' according to that customer service representative.

Hope this information helps
