Hey,

Why are AULONOCARA MALAUNA reccomended to not be mixed with Mbuna, please?

Thanks

doris

most peacocks and haps can't compete with the mbuna's aggression. there are a few species that can sometimes stand up to mbuna, some of the jacobfreibergi species of peacocks are pretty tough and sometimes the larger haps, but as a group, peacocks and haps are pretty wimpy when it comes to fighting back.

That certainly isn't my experience.

My Venustus is a right piece of work, I have had to buy more fish more quickly than I wanted to just to dilute his aggression.

I actually just wanted a mbuna tank, I didn't consider utaka at all.
but someone bought me the venustus and it was love at first site, and on my very varied, luxury diet he has grown like mad.
He is my favourite fish, and the second fish I have broken my usual no-name rule for, he is called Miroslav.

Yup, and to add any hap large enough to fight off the mbuna will likely end up eating them once it has its full growth.

Also, the vast majority of mbuna are herbivores while peacocks and most haps are carnivores which makes it difficult to feed everyone. :good:
