They have been learning from their past mistakes, becasue they are still a apair and there are still LOADS of babies.

Scratch that. About 2 days after that they founght again. SO i moved the parents into a 10g, where they have lived peacefully, and now they've bred AGAIN! I can belive it, they are more prolific than the convicts i kept. The fry from the last batch are still in the 20 with some guppies im working on a breeding project with. What can i do to prevent them from breeding?( yes, i too cant belive i just said that). I really like the fish, theya re very pretty, but i cant handle the breeding, fighting, breeding, and back and forth. Seriously, im about to EXPLODE. What can i do to make them stop?

It's horrible to say this, but I think the only way to stop them breeding would be to split them up.. But maybe.. just maybe, reducing the temperature by a couple of °C would work.

Congrats on all the fry tho, I hope they grow into nice fish!

:good:

Thanks, i'll try that. I mean, i love there color and the way they constantly flirt with eachother, but i really cant keep more fry, and also, i cant keep splitting them up, because i dont have another tank to put them in.

I talked to a guy today at my petstore today( got the MOST AMAZING deals) and he offerd me some free guppies( HUGE GIAGANTIC NOT SICK WEAK GUPPIES) for free( as already said), as im working on a guppy problem, so i offerd him my Jewel Cichlids in exchange because i felt bad i was getting the guppies for free and i cant keep the Jewels with there behaviour of breeding and fighting. So tommorow the Jewels will be gone. And if the eggs hatch by tommorow, then the babies will live, and if they dont, then they will probably die from fungus.

Alright, this is the newest pictures you will ever see of the pair and there newest batch of eggs:

Hope you enjoy!

Thats really kool, how many did you get (or are there to many to count?)?
You could always try fanning the eggs yourself.. sounds really weird but who knows, it might work if your gentle.

You jewels are an amazing colour. Mine have never been that red.. even when breeding

Hopefully they will get a lovely new giant tank!

I get the guppies tommorow, thats when i give him the Jewels. If i want to try and hatch the eggs, i will either buy Methylene Blue, or put a bubbler right by them. But i might feed the eggs to my fish, very good for growth.
I dont know why mine are that red, but HEY, im not going to complain! Im sure they will get a nice tank. THere little 10g dosent even leave them alot of room anyways, so its better for them.

Thanks. I am breeding them. I already ahve about 8 females, and no males. Guppies around here are not quality on here, so im getting some good ones from him. Ohhh, li dont know what to do now. The eggs hatched.

 O dear. they won't be free swimming for a couple of days either.
Don't they need there parents to survive at this stage?
urrm, i say just see how they get on, on their own.

I use to breed guppys, they are reasonably easy to raise. Here is one that i raised.

Okay, now here is a Video. My voice sounds weird for 3 reasons:
1 . I just went swimming
2. Im halfway through puberty, so my voice hasnt decided where it wants to be yet
3. Im still amazed at how BIG they are!

So here is the Video( with sound!):

As far as the babies. I put them in a net breeder in my big tank and fed the last few to my baby fish. Well, while i was gone the angelfish and mollies sucked ALL THE BABIES through the net and ate them. Ohh well, i still have 2-3 week old ones. RIP BABIES

P.S. Beautiful Guppy!

P.S. Beautiful Guppy!

Thanks you!
They are Big girls! The males are really nice too!

I have some good news... My jewels have laid some eggs (well, when I say 'some', i mean about 300/400 :D ) They have covered a piece of rock that is about 10cm x 10 cm (4"x4").

It's their third attempt to raise fry now so hopefully this time it will be a success and they won't get hungry.

Sorry to here about the fry.

CONGRATS!!!!!!! I hope they make it for you! I know, i cant belive that guppies could get THAT BIG! The 2 HUGE females are very pregnant, so i'll have lots of babies. I found another 200 wrigglers int eh 10, im just going to leave them there, but they'll have to fend for themselves when i put the 2 prego guppies in there.

I'm sure they will be fine if you have plenty of plants and hiding place.
It's good to watch guppy fry grow as they gradually produce theit colour... but it started to annoy me because I ended up with an overly stocked tank so I got ride of them along with my pair of sailfin mollys. I found mollys harder to raise for some reason, maybe because i was less experienced.

God, I'm so bored of revison.. In the middle of my GCSEs.. but i will be finished school in about 1 week then i'm off school untill september!! Wooo!
