Probably a bit if a noob question but how do you attach plants to bogwood? I mean Java fern/moss & Anubis?

I used thin elastic bands. But you have to be careful. Don't put the band over the rhizome as the plants don't like it and will die. I found this out the hard way. But the ones which I put the elastic band over the roots were fine.

I know that some people use waterproof super glue, but I would worry about the effect on my fish.

I used some simple cotton thread wrapped around some manzanita branches. I've also heard of using fishing line to do the same thing. The most unique thing ive heard is superglueing the rhizome or the java moss to the actual hardscape. i would look into that a bit more though because i dont know the safety concerns you would have to consider to have something like that in your tank.

A sort of thick stem that stays underground and that the roots and leaves grow out of :)

The rhizomes of Java Fern and Anubia should not be planted under the substrate as it will rot hence tying it to the hardscape. Technically a rhizome can be either above ground (irises, Anubias etc) or below ground (bamboo, ginger etc). It is basically what fluttermoth says, a specialised form of stem which grows horizontally from which the leaves and flowers grow.

The Rhizome in planted tanks on Java fean, Anubias need to be above the substrate. You can also use superglue to attatch, i find this the easiest way to attatch plants to wood and rock.

I just used Loctite (as that's al they had) and it's been fine. After all, it can't be that bad if they use it to stick wounds together.
