hi all i am currently in the process in removing all smaller fish from my 400l oscar tank to make room for the oscar. i am moving two ellioti's and a jurupari into my 60 gal along with the current inhabitants of four pictus cats and two bamboo shrimp. i have seen a nice photo of ASTAHEROS LONGIMANUS but i am struggling to find information and if anyone has any photos of these guys also that would be great. Also any info on CUTTERI CICHLID would be great thanks.

the propose stocking of this tank with an eheim 2028 filtering it is:

4 x pictus catfish
2 x CUTTERI CICHLID
2 x ASTAHEROS LONGIMANUS
2 x bamboo shrimp
1 x Ellioti

dave_oddballs has or had a breeding pair of cutteri. perhaps send him a pm or look through some of his old posts

i'm pretty sure i heard that he's been banned. i'm amazed no one on here has any experience with these fish.

This is a bit random but atleast it'll keep the thread bumped ;)

Have you had experience with bamboo shrimp before?

ermmm well mine are going strong but i have only had mine two months soo not to sure about that. They are really cool to keep i find myself watching them with their little fan things which sift the water. They do shed their skins every now and then and they hide away soo a hiding spot is essential. I would try and buy some as large as you can as i think the younger ones die easier than the larger ones.

In a 60 Gal I'd only have one bamboo shrimp. They each need a lot of sediment to filter, and in our well filtered tanks there is often not much available to them.
In tanks they ofetn fail to thrive as they simply starve slowly.

It's also a good idea to target feed bamboos with a pipette or something similar if you can.

I have two bamboos. One is very confident, and I can target feed him easy. the other has always been very nervous of me and runs if I get anywhere near him. Odd that shrimp should have such different characters !
