Assassin Snails

I'm thinking of adding an assassin or 2 to my tank because the pest snails are getting out of control it's getting ridiculous in there. My tank is already fully stocked so will the snails add to the bioload the filter has to deal with?

Also do they need to be acclimitised like fish?

the snails will be better off if acclimatised, and yes they will add to the bioload as snails poo for england.... but shouldnt have too much of an effect to be honest with just 2. as you can imagine snails move quite slow so dont expect 2 to clear the pest snails too soon in fact they will probably reproduce faster than 2 assasin snails can clear them up.......
try putting a lettuce leaf in the tank overnight and you will be suprised at how many pest snails will munch on it, then remove in the morning and replace leaf until theyre no longer a pest, quicker than assasin snails too

dont forget to change the lettuce every day just to be on the safe side otherwise it will start to rot and may upset the water balance

Knowing my luck the snails will ignore the lettuce and i'll just find my guppies chomping on it lol. If it's intended as food or not they still try and eat it. When i was trying to get my new flame tetra out of the bag and into the tank 2 of the guppies just swan in and refused to get out. I think they may be a little lacking in the brains department haha

I put 2 in my tank, which was getting over ran with snails, and they cleared the lot within a matter of weeks. I didn't see them eat a single one the entire time they were in there, they just seemed to vanish!
