Its not too horribly rare, just hard to get depending where you are. Its, I believe, don't quote me, a spotted gar. Makes sense since it has spots eh? Could be a florida gar though. Not quite sure about the differences. It was a pretty pricey fish i think....its about 10" long and cost me about $51....so about $5.01 per inch...lol. So far had it only for about 1 day. Hasn't been to horribly active, haven't seen it today though, gonna have to check up on it later.

Umm...not totally sure on the max size of spotted gars....hehe...thinking around 2 feet or so..perhaps more....

I just looked up the spotted gar on Google and I've been reading that they can get up to 3 feet!!!! Thats one big fish!

SHWEET!! The bigger the better i say! lol!! Shall be a grand fish then!! Go great with my aro and dats....not to mention the snakies. Course, gotta get the aros and dats, and grow out the snakies....(only about 1" to 2" long....snacks...)...

Nice fish, they can reach 36" but 20-24" is more likely in captivity. They are very nice predators and if you can get them settled in they are a great fish, good buy.
