I'd like to know if I'm the only annoying customer when buying fish? Do you just ask for 3 x number of fish or do you say I want this one , this one and that one? I'm really fussy and the markings and colour and fins are really important to me when buying. I drive the pet store owner bonkers

depends what fish, if it was neons i would ask for any, but if it was a fish like a betta or large ciclid then i would probably point out a particular one! :good:

I agree with Adam, if it's a community type fish, I don't really mind which one I end up with... if it's an oddball, I'll choose a specific one, but usually they only stock one. :p

No fussier person than me

I have mixed cichlids and oddballs. When buying fish, I often find myself pointing at one specific fish and sticking with it no matter how hard it is for the poor sale person to catch.

The reasons behind this is: -

1) You are paying for the fish and have a right to select which one, however I purely talk about the type of fish I have, not small little ones.
2) I carefully watch the fish first to see which ones are aggressive etc and wait until I find one that seems peaceful
3) You may see one with more colours in it and/or has more of a colour in it which you like.

So yes, I am sadly one of those annoying people that specifically points and shouts, 'I want that one pweassse'.

I believe there was a similar topic for this before... and I'll give the same answer.... Over $1 per fish.... I choose.... under $1.... "just grab 6 of 'em for me cause their prob 6/$4.50 or something"...

Ox

i scrutinise every fish i buy to make sure they seem healthy. point in case my mate keeps marines and his wife bought him a majestic angel it infected his tank with marine tb and he lost hundreds of pounds worth of fish
