what lights do you have over the tank? T5 or T8 1 bulb or 2?

easy plants to care for and grow in that lists are
AMAZON SWORDS
JAVA FERN
iVY LEAF CRYPTOCORYNE
INDIAN FERN
GREEN CABOMBA

although from that list quite a few are not aquatic and will die off under water
if i were you i'd avoid buying in bulk, its alright to start with, i think everyone does it to start, but iv never done it since, i buy individual plants now then i know what im getting and what demands the plant needs

Do not buy cheap plants from ebay. There mostly non suited plants that die and cause more issues than good.

Have you had a look at aqua essential s range?

i personally dont agree that amazon swords are easy grow plants. they yellow and die more often that not.

swords are relativity easy to grow, after trying to grow HC and hair grass among other's swords are pips you just plant and leave them. ok they might not be as easy as java moss but there easy to grow

They'll melt but grow after it. Swords are fairly easy to deal with :p

yeah but having a plant that constantly yellows while replacing new leaves that are never as formed and as healthy as the previous ones is too much hassle. i have some type of amazon sword in my tank. its a real nightmare

what lights /ferts you got in there? i think i read somewhere they like alot of iron, try sticking a root tab under it?

yes they do like iron and i use carbon ferts/trace ferts and have tried tabs. the fact that they need iron to really flourish knocks it off my easy care level lol

iv got one in an unfertilized shrimp tank with a t8 bulb and its doing fine. i guess it must be water in the area

my tap water is ph of 7.5 to 8. it seems to vary. is pretty Darn hard also. its good for my malawis but my planted comm tank suffers lol. my rainbow fish spawn in those conditions. im lucky and have 0 ammonia and nitrates from tap water :) so i can always keep my nitrates below 40ppm which is my target

iv got hard water was well and about 7ph, so were about, god knows why your swords not doing well, iv had mine survive in a few different tanks, mine dont seem to like high light though

im running 2 35 watt t5's on an 8 hour photo period. may be the light. all other plants ive ever owned have flourished. only to bite the bullet from hair algae or being eaten. im constantly buying new plants. i dont mind if they get ate cos its good for the fish to have some plants to swim inbetween and makes for cover. cant be dealing with plants that die before they even start to grow lol

i have 1 bulb, no idea how im ment to tell what kind it is.... it came with the tank, well 2 came with the tank but the one bulb didnt work but kept the thing it goes in.......

the bulb probaly dident work because the starter's gone most likely, as for the type are they about an inch thick or about a cm thick?, your going to want easy to grow plants on 1 bulb try
