I don't know how to tell when a fish has red gills..aren't their gills always red?
I tried finding a picture of the "bad red gills" but i couldn't. i'm just wondering cause i can see a redness at my rasbora's gills, and i'm not sure if it was there before.
i have 6 rasbora and 1 cherry barb. can't take water stats right now cause i left my test kit at home (i'm at school). i thought i could find the cards for these hagen refills i found, but that hasn't worked out.

I changed about 20-30% of water last week (don't remember when though, it's the last week of school and things have been a bit crazy). I'm gonna change the water again tomorrow so they have good water while i'm home for gfs prom for two days.

I don't think i would have any reason for ammonia poisioning, i don't feed to much, there's no excess food in the tank. the only thing is two weeks ago my friend watched the fish and she way over fed them..but i changed water twice since then with gravel vac.

so is this red gills?

the redness is on the gill plates, not the gills themselves. were they darting around the tank (i imagine so as they are shaolers)...just normal blood under the scales in the capillaries. id say they look good to me :good:

..what is a gill plate..i'm guessing the skin covering over the gill membrane? are you saying my fish are like that and it's ok, or that is what "bad red gills" look like

they all seem completely healthy..i just wanted to check since i'm not sure exactly what this looks like. and i'd hate to leave for a few days and come back to dead fish because i missed something.
