Are My Platies Pregnant, How Far Along?

I don't know what type they are, but my LFS - which is very good- says it is all fine.
We've heard that one before, many times.. you need to get them IDed, post a photo or look at some online for comparison.

The photo is a bit blurry, so I'm going to give you a few options, going by the body shape, you should look up on the internet and compare photos of..
* Gyrinocheilus aymonieri, a real beast, grows large and very territorial
* Leptobotia hengyangensis, not much information out there about this one, but body colour kinda vaguely matches
* Garra, too many species for me to start on the exact one, but I suggest you look at this page (warning, lots of photos) or at Garra flavatra to compare body shape

The fish above do grow quite large, and some are aggressive.. if they don't look like yours, can you describe the differences?

i think they are the first one you said.

if i have to i will give away...what sucker fish would u recomend for a community tank?

The first ones can grow up to a ft long and become very territorial with age, the aggression will be against all the fish. Read some more about them, so you know why they have to go, then find a new home for them. One adult should have at least a 4*2*2 ft tank, and it's practically impossible to keep two adults together in a home aquarium (unless you find someone with one which is 10+*2*2 ft tank).

What are the dimensions of your tank? 3*1*1 ft? Temperature? pH?

A small (adult size of 4") pleco would probably be your best choice..

dimensions- length- 60cm width- 38 cm hight- 40 cm
temp- 22-23C
pH- 7.4

and cool, i will give away these two than and could you get 2 small pleco's or just the one?

For that length tank, a single Parotocinclus jumbo. Plecos are territorial, so I strongly recommend that you do not even consider more than one.. but to be honest, I would avoid plecos and loaches for a tank that size. If you are worried about algae control, then shrimp or a group of 6 Otocinclus would be your best bet. If you are after interesting bottom feeders, then Hara jerdoni or Hara maesotensis are good options or, if you change your substrate to sand, then the dwarf Corydoras are good choices for the bottom.

Here is a list of fish suitable for a 2 ft tanks which I have compiled: http://aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/species-for-a-60-litre-aquariums/

I am still working on that list, so if you find other species, please let me know (no guarantees that I'll add them though).

Thanks =) i will look at my LFS's and see what they have =) can any of them be put in 2's and with the fish i have?

I just looked at our LFS and they had no fancy fish like them =/ i am looking at different aquariums near us and am interested in the cory or bristlenose catfish, would eaither of them be alright in my tank or not?

No offence, but you really should start doing some research for yourself. Hara (also known as Erethistes) can be kept in twos or more, Corydoras are schooling so should be kept in a group of at least 6 and preferably 10-15+. Your tank should be able to take 10 of one dwarf species of Cory (which I have listed at http://aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/species-for-a-60-litre-aquariums/ )

A good LFS will order the fish in for you, if you ask them to. The 6-10 of a dwarf species of Cory will go well if you change your substrate to sand, while the tank is too small for medium to large Corys. Corys should have sand because they sift through it, passing it through their gills, for a large part of the day. If they are not on sand, you are not allowing them to do what they normally spend the largest proportion of the time doing. Play sand is cheap and works well.

The tank is too small for Ancistrus species (bristlenose plecos), Parotocinclus jumbo is the smallest pleco I can think of and even those I do not recommend because I think these fish deserve more swimming space.

ok, thanks. i will get the dwarf cory's then.
how far do you think my preggo fish is from giveing birth?
