A pair came with my large tank. Given the canopy on this cabinet setup it appears other methods may be challenging. I‘m not seeing how to make contact with glass given wooden obstructions. The canopy is >6 ft up & would be difficult to move.

I've always found them both safe and very effective.
After a time, the interior part of the cleaner will need taking out and its rough scrapey surface given a clean with a stiff brush, but otherwise, you should be good to go.

Hi,

Just to add, be careful you do not trap any grit/sand between the cleaner(s) and glass as you will run the risk of scratching the glass - been there. :(

Same here....

I just use Magic Erasers (original style, not kitchen or bath), and extendable razor scrapers to clean my inside glass

Thanks . The husband was scaring me with complicated instructions on how to ease them into place so as not to break the glass! (he’s never cleaned a tank). Think I better hunt down a YouTube vid

Saw a few videos. One called: You‘d be crazy to use magnets on a new tank.” A viewer commented it should be named: You‘d be crazy to let your kids clean your tank.” 🤪🤪
Mostly guy discussed how kids like to play with the magnets & will catch substate etc & scratch the glass. Poor Brit guy; he really got trashed in the comments.

Other was a reefer guy who likes them & discussed various brands. Said to get pretty wood finished model if you plan to leave one permanently in tank. Also said get the kind that floats so less hassle if it drops. Off to see if I have a floater!

Hi,

The chances of you breaking the glass by using one is "next to none", I used one on My S/W tanks in the past - it was a floating type, very handy - stops getting wet armpits ;)

I find them the best for our large tank. Ooh I know the finger trap one! Ouch specially the real powerful magnets 😖 as my tank is 4 foot deep they are great, haven't mastered my inspector gadget arms yet! Ps just to add, they are great on the acrylic tanks too but be sure to get acrylic not glass cleaner type big difference.

Very useful. thanks.
Haven’t measured big tank. Think 3 feet deep. Need trash picker upper to reach to bottom. Sits on tall stand too.
