Are Gouramis Right For Me?

so my local pet store is having a sale on some of the fish. i originally want to go there to get some female guppies for my breeding crazy males but as i look on their website they have gouramis on sale too. i have always secretly wanted some. so my question is: could i put maybe 2-3 in a 5 gal (19 L) tank with ghost shrimp? and if you compare them to livebearers, how hardy are they (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being bombproof, 1 being you can look at them wrong and they die, livebearers being about an 8) i want to have some tetras in my fish collection because livebearers are.... well... you know.. they get annoying when you have so many and i have sooo many.... the only other tetra kind of fish they have (on sale) are white cloud minnows. would they be ok with the shrimp? any other tetras that would do good in a 5 gal with shrimp that are from this page:

For a single dwarf gourami you would need a minimum of 15-20 gallons. Regular gouramis need and even bigger tank.
