Are gouramis friendly?

There are actually a couple of good on-line fish stores that you can get single, sex specific fish from. As to the temperaments of the gourami family, I have a bunch of different types in the same tank and with the exception of a pink kissing gourami (I actually bought two, one was fine, the other was meaner than a snake and I returned it to the lfs) they all get along fine.

Hi Tenko :)

Right now I have a 20 gallon tank with 11 female gouramis in it. They are, one pearl and 10 blue three spots. It is the most peaceful, lovely tank I have. In another tank I have two males and they are constantly chasing each other. They are one pearl and one three spot.

If you are looking for peaceful gouramis, you might want to think about getting only females. :D

Thanks for the help.

I do want to get a replacement dwarf neon female, just got to find a lfs that sells them. I will consider getting some more females too, if I can find any.

; My Gouramis are fine in my tank. I have a 29 gal. with:

1 powder blue dwarf gourami
1 fire dwarf gourami
6 Zebra Danios
2 red platys

They all seem to get along just great!

You should try not to keep them with any fish that have a tenancy to nip fins!

gouramis are usually very peaceful as long as you don't put them with other gouramis or bettas. kissing gouramis are usually aggressive though. Well also it depends on personalities. Plus if you put blue gouramis with cichilds for some reason they take the leader pose and seems like they do nothing. Plus male gouramis together aren't good they have a tendacy to fight. females are peaceful though. so i'd get 2 females to one male. It's a good ratio for alot of fish.
