Hi ,was going to purchase a butterfly fish from pets at home and they told me that they were peaceful fish,is this true because when i asked ripples they said that they were predatory and would attack any fish on the surface?

They are a predator and will eat any fish small enough to fit in their mouths, and they can be intolerant of other surface swimming fish and have been known to nip fins. So for compatibility, it is best to keep them with other fish that keep to the middle and bottom regions of the tank.

Thanks, but what about when the fish come up to feed at the surface, and my frogs bcome up for air?

Well I dont know anything about frogs im afraid because ive never kept them, but from what ive seen they just do a quick gulp and go back down so it shouldnt be a problem.. For feeding the other fish get an egg cup with a little of the tank water in it and drop your flake food in and swish it round before dunking into the tank. This way it will immediately sink rather than float on the top so the other fish wont have to surface feed.

Just to add pets at home are charging £9.99 for a butterfly fish and my local fish shop are charging £4.99,what a price difference !
