Archers Alone

Has anyone had success keeping archers alone or are they better in a group or pair?

They do fine singly. Just don't keep them with anything aggressive. I've kept single archers with monos, scats, garpike, Colombian sharks, and suchlike.

They are absolutely terrible as pairs (or triplets for that matter). Invariably squabble, with one bullying the other.

In big groups, they become schooling fish, in a manner of speaking.

However you keep them, they're lovely fish, a bit underrated but actually very beautiful. Predatory though, so watch what you keep with them.

My Archer seems to chase my GSP constantly. In turn it gets chased by an Orange Chormide.

Is this something i need to worry about?

My Archer gets chased by my Mono. He seems very docile but when he had enough he fights back but nothing to serious. My GSP gets chased by everything in the tank but just wait until he gets bigger.

It cost £12 for two in maidenhead aquatics @ st albans. I didn't know you weren't supposed to keep them in twos... May have to rehome one. No spitting yet. They live with one mono sebae and 2 mono (black and silver stripey), 3 green spotted puffers, GN plec, tyre track eel and a goldspot moray. This is my boyfriend tank by the way. He gave his scats to me as they chased everything too much. And now bow down to my gourami?!?!

That tank sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. A lot of those fish aren't compatible... just to let you know.
