This topic is about this product here --> http://www.petco.com/product/108292/Aqueon-Water-Flow-Assembly-Control-Valve.aspx?CoreCat=Accessories_Product

I have seen this used before and it makes siphoning and filling you tanks very easy! The down side that everyone says is that it's made of plastic and breaks easily. Does anyone use something similar to this? Are there any metal ones out there that would last a lot longer? Would it be possible to go to a hardware store and try making an attachment like this for a hose?

yep, many use them, its called a Python. and they dont seem to break. (well so frequently, anyway)

That's pretty much the same cost as the one I posted though :(

Has anyone tried a water bed drain and fill adapter? The cost is only about 5 dollars rather than 15..

I made my own for a fraction of the price. I even made a tutorial! See the link in my sig :)

I think I might look into building something I can use for my changes. Thanks for the link.

I built my own. I looked for that water bed piece because its exactly the same thing.

I couldnt find one, and ended up buying that adaptor under the brand name "Lee's". It was only $8

I bought the aqueon one myself. It definately hasn't broken yet and I can't imagine that getting broke either. The plastic is very solid. I read the same thing before I bought it. I guess if one forgets which way to to turn in order to tighten it up to the tap you can damage it if you try hard enough  , but other than that I can see how would one break it. It does a great job!!!
