Aquascaping World Contest 2011

The competition is drawing to a close now however this is where you guys come in

The judging panel have submitted their results to us and after combining their results we have a top 12.

The competition now goes to a public vote so you can help decide which scape is the winner.

This is the only competition where the public decide the winner so please make use of it. You only get 1 vote and you only have until 17th July to cast your vote.

Of course you can bash the scapes. I'm quite impressed though. I normally find I am quite uninterested by a lot of the top rated scapes but of the 12 I find there a few quite impressive (to my taste) scapes in there Also impressed at the strength of the South American entries This top12 isn't dominated by the far east even though there were many Far East entries.

You've no need to think WOW too much of these tanks. Yours are quite impressive so these are within your reach with experience

Aaargh about Juwel backgrounds though. lol and as for the volcano. You have to get a bit more dominant. My wife would have all that garbage in 'our' lounge tank but it is met with a 'Hmmm' first. If she persists it is met with a 'tut'. If she still continues she gets told how little style, taste and clas she has and off she can go to her lick her wounds. lol

Seriously though its not quite as insensitive as that but all it takes is a little sermon about the merits of nature and how beautiful nature is and how man made objects would ruin the visual impact. Not so much that I convince her. More a case of she gets bored and walks away.

So get firmer. Take her to a lake and point to the shopping trolley or dumped car and compare it to the volcano.

As for non CO2 being a limiter. It isn't. Just means that things take more time. Keep it up chap

This is our first competition. What I meant was that most competitions have a very heavy Far East participation after all aquascaping is a major hobby over there. Many competitions will have 50% of their top 100 from far east. Partly down to the mathematics of the high percentage of participants and partly because they scape in the favoured style however styles seem to be changing.

Scaping is moving onward as it becomes more and more popular in other parts of the world.

People used to say that the rest of the world was catching up slowly when we were all trying to 'mimic' the Far East styles however these days it is becoming obvious that different parts of the world are creating their own styles.

This is a good thing IMO

Hello.

Was a tough first year and hopefully we have learned some lessons to improve for next year.
