Does any one else become exceptionally anal when setting up a new tank :S . I'm currently setting up a 75 gallon(uk) tank. I've had to build the stand and hood, work out how to rig the filtration, electric system etc, etc. That's all going swimmingly, BUT how much of a saga am I having trying to get the rocks looking natural?

I've spent most of the day moving rock and wood around the tank. I started with one end looking good but not the other. Moved the wood around and all of a sudden the bad end looked good, but then the other end looks like its been attacked by David Blunkett. The floor is soaking, my fingers are cut and my clothes are gradually getting wetter and wetter.

All in all a great day :X

Yeah, It always takes me ages to get something i'm happy with. Usually i buy too many plants, or not enough, or the wrong sort! :/ I get something i like, decide it looks a bit weird in a little corner and ruin everything trying to get one plant or rock to look perfect. I also get water everywhere which reallly annoys my mum cos my rooms got a cream carpet (she let me have a fish tank after being assured no water would get anywhere :shifty: ) Its worth it in the end though, until my catfish uproot everything!

Best way i find is dont try to make it look good just put things in any old fashion then you notice its looking good =) . there is no way to make it look natural if your trying too.

Thats what seems to happen with me.

I just stuck a bit of bogwood on 1 side, 3 bits of slate on the toher put the plants and looked great!

Recently arranged a tank with just slate. I made a few caves then just randomly placed a few bits.

I'm thinking about re doing my crab tank to give more caves now though!!
