Hi all,

I am due to buy a tank which has that lovely Juwel internal background stuck to it.  It was my intention to remove this (It is stuck at the top only and the gravel held it in place further down).  However, the seller has now contacted me to say now he has moved the tank he has realised that he stuck the background using Aquascape epoxy.

Is this still pliable like aquarium silicone, or does it go rock solid ?

Will it come off in the same way as silicone would, or will it have bonded to the glass ?

I dont know anything about this stuff and am worried that I might end up causing damage.

Cheers.

if its anything like the epoxy resin that I've used then its pretty tough stuff and wont be easy to get off, don't know about this specific brand of resin but Araldite (the one I've used) once its gone off is rock hard.

Epoxy will set solid sadly.

You could try heating it up (very carefully) so that it melts again so you can scrape it off, but you'd need to get at it, which may involve taking tools to the background.

Thanks for the replies guys looks like Im stuffed.  Grrr.
