Aquarium Safe Bamboo Cane

Hi guys, I would like to use bmboo in an aquarium project, hopefully of varying thickness, maybe some very thick to make hides at the bootom of the tank.

Anyway, can normal bamboo be utilised? or should it be treated?

I'd like to see the answer to this. I had a topic asking about the same thing a while ago, and didn't really get a straight answer.

I heard you can coat anything in aquarium silicone and it'll be safe, but I really don't recommend it. I tried it on bamboo sticks and it was huge mess and looked bad. Gave up on the bamboo after that.

Yeah, I've encountered pondsafe varnish before now, but it changes the colour quite significantly....

You should coat them in polyurethane (clear polyurethane varnish) inside and out, apparently, but I never got round to trying it.
