Aquarium Advice, Please

Hello - complete newbie here! So new that I don't even have my tank yet... but would love your advice and/or opinions. I had ordered an Aqua One Royale 120 (bow fronted tank - 121 x 46 x 70 - 290l) and have just been told that they are no longer making them. I am now wondering whether to swop my order to the Regency 120 (curved glass corners but straight rectangular tank - same dimensions - 300l) or whether to search out a Royale on-line.

Please could anyone who has experience of either / both of these give your opinion? I am sure that a lot of the decision must be down to personal preference (but I like the curved corners, hubby and kids like the bow front) but I would be interested if anyone knows why the Royale has been discontinued... Also, are there any practical points that I should consider?

Not really any experience with either but from a practical point of view. It may be difficult to find replacement parts for the filtration etc. included in the Aqua One if they are no longer making them.

That's a good point, thank you.... I will check this out, although I suspect that both the Royale and the Regency use the same Aqua One filters. I think they have discontinued the Royale design to make way for a new range....

I will wait and see if anyone happens past who has one of these tanks.... I guess someone must have bought one, or they would have been discontinued years ago!!

Not much help to you other than to say I have 2 AquaOnes and I think they are great tanks. Good looking tanks and cabinets and the canopy filter system works very efficiently. My main tank (850=155ltr)) is as big as I dare go as I live in a timber frame house and I have it upstairs Have just got a 320=28ltr as a fry/hospital tank.........good luck with your choosin'

Hi doresy - thank you for your post... I am delighted that someone who has an Aqua One likes them. I have to say that they look lovely, and the cabinets look much nicer than your run-of-the-mill MDF (this is important to hubby!). I still can't decide between the two contenders, though....!!

As they the pros say ''if you have a chance to get a big tank get it''. So you have 2 tanks what would you pick. One is a
290 ltr and the other is 300ltr, so that is actualy clear.

Go for the rectangular tank - better surface area.
