Aquaone Marine 900 For Freshwater

Hi all

Just bought the above tank 2nd hand and has the Marisys 240 filter!

What i want to know is can I use this filter for freshwater?

No, pretty sure not as its a protein skimmer too and you can't use those sorts of protein skimmers on fresh water

Aqua One arent specific but describe it as a 'marine filtration system' on their website, on all their other filters they specify both marine and freshwater. So yeah... it is just for salt water i'm sure.

Hmm.. I thought it could have cos it still has all the the same media as a normal fresh water filter... I just dont get what this skimmer thing i all about.

You can use it just dont turn the protein air pump on.
