This was originally going to be a Kubota's rasbora tank, but they live in soft water environments in the wild, as someone pointed out in a previous post. My city (Perth) has hard water, which is not good for these rasboras, but perfect for endemic Lake Inle fishes. Emerald dwarf danios and Sawbwa barbs are native to the Lake near dense vegetation and swamps. These fishes live in large numbers and are classified as endangered by the IUCN Red List, therefore my project will be conservation based. Celestial pearl danios live near the Lake, but not on the Lake itself, therefore they are not included in this setup. Plants include Rotala rotundifolia, hornwort and Ludwigia repens. The tank itself is 42cm(h) x 90cm(w) x 36cm(d). I hope this project will be underway as soon as possible after I grow back my lashes (I have picked them again during school today).

Sounds good - if you want some other species to go with them that occur in the wild with them, Rosy Loaches and Microrasbora Rubuscens - the Red Dwarf Rasbora. I have the latter 2 in a 2 foot tank and it looks great (they have only been together a few days though).

The problem is Aquotix and other pet shops don't sell Red dwarf rasboras. However they might sell the rosy loaches.

It might just be a timing thing they are rare but different fish get brought in through the year or one wholesaler might use one supplier at a certain time etc

Have you made a Lake Inle biotope before?
It's not really an Inle biotope as I have Rosy Loaches - but in terms of fish they both come from The Shan in Myanmar. My plants are not biotope correct though as it was set up before I decided what fish and I also have a colony of Cherry Shrimp in there.

'The Rosy Loach occurs sympatrically with Danio margaritatus (the Celestial Pearl Danio/Fireworks 'Rasbora') and an undescribed Microrasbora species which is similar in appearance to M. rubescens.'

This is from a fish profile on Rosy Loaches - I have Rosy Loaches and M.Rubescens, I don't have space for CPDs though as its only a small tank so just 2 species. I'd like to add more M.Rubescens if I get the chance but quite a rare one.

Interesting. What is the tank size?

It's an ADA 60F so the footprint is 60cm x 30cm but its not as deep as a normal tank. The lake/stream Rosy Loaches are from in the wild is quoted as being a maximum of 30cm deep so are a good choice for shallow tanks.
