Hello everyone, just wondering what you all think of the amount of fish In my tank because I’m contemplating adding some shrimp
15 hi spot rasboras
12 porkchop rasboras
5 neon tetras
1 black widow tetra (survivor from another tank)
2 zebra corydoras
1 mini clown plec
And a couple of onion and assassin snails
Could I add some shrimp or would it be to much ? Cheers

Hi James welcome to the forum :)

I'd say you were fine to add some shrimp into there - could do to add a few more Zebra Cories too :) Which species is this? I've not heard of Zebra Cories before?

Oops I meant panda Cory! Weird you say that I just added 4 more corys yesterday haha
Nice to know now to choose what colour amanos ?

Welcome, James.
I think you may be looking at cherry shrimp since Amanos do not have coloration (I don't think). They are fun though, lots of personality.

Hello and welcome :)
Only 2 Corydoras ? Something's wrong as Corydoras have herd instinct and need to be a group of 10 or more. Also make sure soil isn't gritty or sharp-edged to protect their touch-sensitive barbels that they use to find food.
Amano shrimp is maybe the best algae eating shrimp.
Neocaridina davidii Red-Cherry shrimp) is more a waste eating than algae eating shrimp.
Think to feed them twice a week with shrimp food enriched with cacium.
Both have herd instinct.

But cherry shrimps are prettier :) Assuming the onion snails are red onions, a type of nerite, they should eat any algae. But the assassins may eat them.

If you decide to go with cherry shrimps, get just a single colour. Since the different colours are all the same species, they'll interbreed and you'll end up with brown shrimps.

In my tank, nerites eat just about all the algae in there. But it is quite possible that I don't have any hard algae for them to try to eat.

Don't add any hard algae to put to the test your nerites ?
