Apple Snail Advice

I did have 2 apple snails once....
But for some reason they died and i still don't know why
haha horrible gravel i know, but it was a fry tank so don't really think it matters

I had an airstone in there so they could get air, and i never added any meds in this tank.
I would really like to get some more, but obviously i don't want the same happening again

Apples dont need air stones, they do have lungs but will go above the water line when they need it
