Apparently He Scares Himself

Update!

I went on my lunchbreak to my LFS. I had like 5 minutes to get what I needed and I was out of there in like 2. Phew! They had a ton of ghost shrimp, probably as feeders, and I told him to get me a dollars worth (he said that was 6) and I still ended up with 8. They're so silly looking and somehow CUTE...an alien-like cute. They were in the bag at work and my coworker and I were laughing at them when they swam backwards. I am surprised I like them as much as I do. They're different.

Oh, and I noticed one has eggs. I wonder if it will lay them and if Mad Hatter the betta will eat them?

Be careful with the shrimp. Keep an eye on them. I had read of a person who's betta was at the bottom of the tank and the shrimp came up and nipped away at it. IIRC, the betta was sick and the shrimp ended up eating it. :(

Yeah, "Ghost Shrimp" or "Feeder Shrimp" can be a lot of different species, so be careful. I agree how they look alien-like. I actually like how they look also, sadly my mom doesn't so I had to get Red Cherry Shrimp :p .

Also just FYI - I heard cases about the shrimp not being exactly shrimp (but of course, only from the LFS). More like... i think the word was prawn? It only looked similar to a ghost shrimp, and then it grew MUCH larger than a ghost shrimp would (she assumed it was simply large for its species) and the pincers were inches long. She removed it before it did any harm though. I can't find the picture, but it looked threatening to a fish like a betta. And it looked really scary too, not friendly at all. The pincers were freaky :|

I think they are indeed ghost shrimp. My local LFS guy was the one who sold them to me. Not PETCO, a chain store. The betta doesn't even mess with them. My BN does...I think curious to see if they have food. He's already whopped one on with his tail when it got too close to him. They are all different sizes. A couple are really small. The biggest one is like...maybe an inch.

Here are the shrimp: (They're hard to photograph)
