Last friday I brought home a nice Aponogeton Crispus (spiral type) and planted it in my shiny new tank so far so good. Now here's where it gets odd while the plant is growing and looking well its fired out a narrow stem that is growing at an incredible rate in the last 3 hours its grown at least another 5 or 6cm from friday (no shoot) it has now climbed the 66cm to the surface and about 8 to 10 cm along the surface towards the opposite side.

There no leafs or shoots on it just what almost looks like a bud on the top of the stem. What do you reckon it is and more importantly what should I do about it lol

that'll be the Aponogeton flower...

^^mine used to flower regularly, they smell quite nice as well.

It'll open up as a rather strange and stringy-looking flower if you let it alone, or you can cut it off and chuck it. Mine sends a new one up every couple of days, and I just leave it alone unless it starts coming out of the hood.

Yep it's a flower, mine used to do this al the time.
