My LFS have Cacotouides and Agazzizi, i have a 20x11x10 tank coming soon, and have all the filters etc.. already here (mature filter)

Would this size tank be suitable for them?

Cheers, John

Its a little bit on the small side IMO. Especially for Cacotouides and Agassizii which are 2 of the bigger types. You might get away with a pair of a smaller type like nijsseni or panduro but even then you will still be pushing it IMO.

Yeah they'd very quickly outgrow the tank i'm afraid.

Is it possible to swap the tank order for a larger tank??

There are some absolutely GORGEOUS small fish though, enough to rival cockatoo's, you could stock with some of these;

Dario badis.

The only problem with badis is they do best a slightly lower temps. They can live from 16-25 but either end long term wont do them any good so its best to have them about 20C or even better actually have a summer and winter in the tank by having the tank 16-17 in the winter then raising it to 24-25 in the summer.

I've had cockatoos in a tank that size for breeding (assuming we're talking in inches here), but I wouldn't keep them in a tank that small long term.

OK thanks guys, appreciate the quick replies.
i could buy a small 2ft tank from my LFS but i'm not sure if it would be safe upstairs with my 24x24x20

That would be alot better size tank. In that size you could have 1 male and 4-5 females. Ive got a 32x12x18 upstairs no problem and i wouldnt think a 24x24x20 would be to much especially since because of the dimensions the weight would be spread out over a good area.

Nah that tanks already in use, i have
2 keyhole (young pair)
3 lyretail mollies (breeding trio)
2 hroseface loach
1 blue betta male
1 lil plec.

With that tank already upstairs, would i safely be able to fill up another 2ft tank you reckon?

What type of plec is it? It might be small now but if its a common plec it can grown upto 2' long so aslong as the tank. The loaches would prefer to be in a group aswell.

I think another one would be fine. Up until recently i had a 10,15,21 and 30G in my room for atleast 6 months with no probelm the 15 and 30G had been in my room for 2 years.

Sorry its 3 horseface loach.
the Plec is not ID's as i cannot get a pic, but theres a 4x30x30 downstairs ready if needed.

I think i'll get that 2ft tank, and get a nice group going. Whatever i breed will be free to collectors

Fair enought but even thats a bit small long term.

Sounds good. What do you think you will go for?

Haha, no need to tell me twice, i'll get another trio as soon as i can.

I'm thinking Panduru.

I wish every one would take advice on upping shoals that well. They live in big shoals in the wild for safety so its best to keep them in bigger groups so there not as shy.

Sounds good. 1m 4-5f should work fine and give you a good chance of breeding.

Well, i love these fish, and if they need more of em to feel more secure, thats what there gonna get.

Yeah sounds good to me, i'll probably have to leave it till after christmas now though to focus on completing my community.

Yeah that sounds good. make sure you cycle the tank and everything first. To speed it up you can just take some of the media from the old filter and add it to the new filter so its fully cycled.
