Apistogramma Agassizi

Well when I said they were from Asia, the theory is that they were created in fish farms in Asia...what you have would be a SA fish, just a hybrid of two different ones. As for your LFS, just an FYI many of them only go by what the transshipper tells them they have. All three pet shops (including an independently owned) near me carried Corydorus aeneus marked as Brochis splendens because the transshiper said they were Brochis splendens. Of course, the transshipper might have been mis-informed as well.

big thanks for the infos--
i'm doin a bit of googling about
apisto agassizzi and the color of agassizii
is darker than my one-- so i suppose
you're right about them--
they do have almost the same head though
with tiny blue speckles--- and the details on the tail
suits your description as well--

:good:

The reason I asked the above question was exactly thet. They didn't look like Aggie's to me.

well i guess Aphotic Phoenix is right about the ID of this one:

I know exactly what those are, and they aren't agassizi...they're a hybrid called Apistogramma sp. "Steel blue". Usually passed off as A. Borelli.

on my observation they're quite sociable with the gouramis and neons-
they get along just fine-- and very peaceful - - - sometimes they hide
behind ornaments-plants and stuff-- but as soon as you turn off the light-- they come out
and play-- :D
