If you'd like a different coloured fish, how about Apistogramma borelli?

I have a pair of the opals, and the blue in the male is really attractive. The female is the bright yellow with black markings like other apisto females.

that was coz they where the only once i knew about
i just want one that looks nice and might breed and wont kill each other

Lol, yeah. It would be nice if the females would show more colors like the male does. But I guess that is what we have to sacrifice by being able to sex them so easily, lol.

r they the same to look after a cockatoo

All Apistos are similar to look after, although apistogramma cacatuoides are the most forgiving

Yeah, the Cockatoos are the most hardy out of all the apistogramma fish out there. And plus, the males show AWESOME color. Maybe too vibrant for a 10 gallon in my not so humble opinion.

Call your LFS and see what they can have, or order. I wanted apistogramma, but got a ram. Just as well satisified. They are very similar fish.

I would go after the Cockatoos. They are the most hardy. But I know your feeling. If you are new to this, go after the Cockatoos, that is what I was going to go after, but the rams got me.

Mikrogeophagus ramirezi (Gold)

Gold ram... Heart Heart. I personally think they are more pretty than the regular blue ones.
