Apisto Viejita Black Spot

I'm no expert but it dosn't look like markings in the pic.
I would check tonight if there also swelling underneath with the blackness.

Maybe also do a thread in tropical discussion with the pic. To see if it is markings.

Thanks zoddyzod.
Your pic does look like markings. But the posters dosn't to me.

Thanks zoddyzod for the picture. Actually i have the bolivian ram as well in my tank and understand what you mean by markings. But i'm pretty certain it's not those markings i'm seeing on the apisto. It seems like as if something is in its stomach which is looking like a big black mark when we see in the light. Here is the video of the apisto when i got him and no clear visible mark in the stomach

Thanks

Right guys, here is the video taken today of the apisto viejita with the black blotch. Hopefully it's a bit clear in the video to identify what it is?

Thanks

In comparison to my dwarf apisto's (cockatoo), that would appear to be the stomach area.

It might sound silly, but you're not feeding dark food are you? As my apisto's get pink belly after I feed artemia, and red belly when I feed bloodworm.

Good point on the food. I'm not particularly feeding them any dark food, but here is the list of food i'm feeding them:

- Nutrafin Max flakes
- Tetra Pro Vegetable (with concentrated spirulina
- TetraPrima Granules

and Frozen Daphnia

I havent fed them anything apart from that, although there are 3-5 snails in the tank. May be he ate one of the snails :(

It's highly possible. How large are the snails?? My apisto's pick off small snails frequently.

And it could be the food, but honestly, i'm no fish expert. Just offering what little knowledge I can.

Here's hoping it's nothing :good:, i'll be checking in from time to time to see how this progresses.

Thanks rustedknight. They are small snails, but hopefully it's eaten one of them and as of now, its not showing any signs of weakness and on a mission to woo the female.

Please do advice if anyone else has any suggestions.

Thanks

He seems active enough apart from the blackness.
I would just see how he gets on for now.
If any changes get back to the board.

Good Luck.
