Hi, i have just noticed my female Apisto has given birth to between 7-10 babies & is defending her territory at the mo.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this situation in a community tank before & should i attempt to put them in a hatchery or just leave them & hope they don't get eaten? Fish list in my sig.

Ta in advance

G :)

if you havent done so already, drop some java moss near her territory and leave mum to it

word of warning, if you only have 1-3 babies left, she may give up and not bother protecting them anymore, if so then come back for advice

She will be fine with them until she is ready to breed again, generally after about 6 weeks or so. If you can seperate the male and let the babies mature, then she will continue looking after them.
It would be better if you could seperate her and the fry into a different tank as she may get stressed trying to protect them from your other fish.
