So I got the API Starter Pack. I'm familiar with the Quick Start and Stress Coat but not the aquarium salt. Has anyone used the aquarium salt? It has directions on the amount to use but I'm wondering if different fish tolerate it differently.

Salt should not be used on a routine basis, but it should be kept in the cupboard in case fish are ever sick. It's one of the best treatments for minor infections.
Many years ago, salt was used routinely and a lot of manufacturers seem stuck in a time warp and still say to use it.

You don’t need to use aquarium salt if you fish are not sick...
Stress coat usually has Aloe Vera in it, which is not good for fish, and is not recommended.
