Api Master Test Kit.

I have a nearly new API freshwater master test kit. Aside from using the high range PH the only other test that says saltwater is the nitrate one. Can i use this kit to test ammonia and nitrite on my newly set up 10gal nano?

yes but you need different color cards.

The nitrite test is identical and uses the same card (at least I got the same in my FW and SW master kits). The ammonia test will depend on how old the kit is. If you have the two part ammonia kit that comes with newer ones it might work. The old single bottle test will almost certainly not,

Personally I would ignore the API nitrate test. I don't believe I have ever had an accurate result from mine, so have thrown it out and started using a different make.

Thanks you cleared that up. The one I have for ammonia is the newer 2 part test. What brand do you recommend nitrate testing?

I use Tropic Marin and it seems closer to as I would expect (and is used by my lfs who successfully keeps blue tailed stingrays and Gonoporia).

Where would you get the saltwater test cards (if you wanted to use the fresh water kit)?
