Hey,

I am using dual elite heaters (these ones http://www.everythingforpets.com/elite_aqu...378.dept.1176/) for my 90 gallon tank. I set them to the 30 degree mark, but the thermometer reads 31 degrees, but it seems to fluxate (its not fluxating quickly, but it is fluxating) going up to 32 degrees at times, which is a little high for Discus IMO.

Does anyone have feedback or experiences with these heaters? Good or bad?

Just wondering if it may be time to switch them out for something else.

Thanks,

DL

Hi

We had an elite heater go wrong on us a month ago. Thermostat stuck overnight and cooked the fish :(

The temp scale on virtually all heaters isn't that accurate, so go by the thermometer reading :good: Threre's always going to be slight fluctuations in water temp as heaters are designed to come on at a given temp and go off at a given temp. In other words, they cant go on and off at the same temperature.

ive got 2 elites and to get my temp right i have to set them a few degrees cooler than i actually want it

i have an elite heater in a 60L and its crap at providing the temperature it states, it seems to be a perfectly good heater, when put together with a good reliable thermometre, and take the temp off the thermometre not the heater, my heater is set at about 24c and my tank is at 27.5c.

I have 2 in my 125G,
as said they are fairly reliable heaters when used with a thermometer
my heaters sit at 22C and the tank stays at 26C, with no fluctuations.

after a number of failed heaters, I now always use Hagen Heaters, whether that be the Elite or the Fluval Tronics which IME do have good thermostats
