as above really just curious and wondering what people are getting up to locally (with there tanks etc

we just moved down from newcastle in the last month... im originaly from gy but its been 8 years since i last lived here.

oh yeah an which lfs's do you all use etc (sorry for double post a cant see the edit button)

Im in market rasen, got a 54L horizon tank with 5 white clouds, 5 emerald eyed rasboras and a few guppies, got more ornaments to add to tank.
I use both pets at home in lincoln (please no slagging off anyone) and maidenhead aquatics in whisby (not as good imo, lots more dead fish, filthy tanks etc)
I went to victor aquatics and the info they gave me was appaling.

HI

I am from Grimsby/Louth and although I live in Bristol at the moment my niece said there is a good fish shop in Grimsby on Victoria St. Not had chance to check it out myself though.

yeah must admit i wasnt too impressed with victor aquatics, i have however been into sixhills aquatics just around the corner from me and i was pleasently surprised with the level of knowledge and information that (the person i spoke to at least so cant vouch for every member of staff) possesed, their tanks were all clean and and reasonably stocked also there prices seemed ok, certainly aint fussed with p@h not as good as some not as bad as others, typical story there.
Im wondering if there are anymore that i should know about or avoid if anyone knows?????? I'll have a look out for the one on victoria street however i aint seen one i can think of.
Im also wondering if there are any auctions around the county?
i currently have empty tanks after the move and house renovations, 2x3gals 1x15gal 1x20gal an a 65gal which currently is at a friends house back up in newcastle whilst we get sorted with the house and move down here then i gotta get it and its inhabitants (my malawi's :):):):):) ) down here.

I'm from Lincoln, I use Maidenhead at Whisby. Theres a cracking garden center at Brigg with some really different fish.

I'm from New-Holland. I use Maidenhead Aquatics at Brigg (Most still know it as Frosts) Actually went there this morning to trade some fish in. *See my 'Fresh start' thread. Rang up on Friday, got a rough price over the phone & got a credit note - so I'm ready to start again! Always get my fish from them, never had a problem.

There was 2 massive Tinfoil Barbs in the tank they put my Severum in. Bl**dy monsters fish!

cool cheers, has anyone used the one at beverly at all?? just im more likely to be there than brigg in the coming weeks??

Im a lincoln local tryin to upgrade my oscars' tank to a 100"x18"x18" beast i just collected today. I used blankney koi while it was around :(

I'm from Hull.
Currently swapping a small fish tank tank in my kitchen to a bigger one in the living room.

I've not heard of any fish shops in Beverley but there's a garden centre not far in Dunswell.

aparently there is a maidenhead in beverly ??? ill have a look at some point we headin over to hull in a couple of weeks as we hoping to go to the deep...... anyone been/any good?
iv just landed my self a 5x2x2 :) just gotta collect it and set it up in a fortnight so im deffo on the hunt now,:):) all my tanks are empty at the minute besides my 65gal malawi tank which i have actually left with a friend in newcastle whilst we got sorted out with the move down here, so getting that shifted is another project once i get this badboy running.

I don't know Beverley that well. I've never noticed any fish shops but I could be wrong.

I've never been to The Deep, and I only live 5 minutes drive away.

I really want to go, especially in the lift that goes up a big tank.

I live in Grimsby, used all of the fish shops you mentioned, the Maidenhead aquatics in Beverly is very good imo, staff are very knowledgable and where prepared to spend best part of an hour trying to catch a botia modesta in there maze of conected tanks lol, there is a fairly good aquatics section at silica lodge garden centre in S#37###horpe, they have a selection of 6ft plus tanks with Rays and specialist cichlids etc prices are very good to and they will order you anything if they do not stock it, Sixhills aquatics is the best place in Grimsby they are very helpfull and are willing to help you aquire any fish if you can keep it.

To the person above who took his severum to brigg garden centre, i was there at the weekend and the barbs seem to have caused it a bit of damage im afraid,

Steve

cool cheers for the heads up, ill stick with sixhills for now then untill i get chance to get to beverly :)

Maidenhead at Beverley is really good, the staff are great had a few dodgy fish from there truth be told. Ings lane is 2 mins down the road well worth a visit!! Miss out the discount place/ 4pets absolutely appalling I only go in if I am utterly bored to see if things have improved. There is a 4th in the area called Northfield Aquatics, in the past few months its really come on very impressed with their stock and their prices!! Usually half that of MA and similar quality but its off the beaten path PM me if you want the map or something its not too hard to find but took me a few circles lol. Frisbys in Hull, mmmm bit hit and miss healthy fish but quite standard stuff and very very expensive.

If you dont mind a bit of a trek Ferrybridge Aquatics in Knottingly is legendary a proper treasure trove in there and decent prices as well.

Went to MA at lincon as well and was quite impressed with what they had, their bread and butter stuff was good but they had a few nice obscure things in as well :)
