not sure where this should go so sorry if its in the wrong place.

im think im going to invest in a tetratec Ex1200 for my new tank but im not sure if it will fit as i have 2 glass bars at the front and back of the tank for the glass condensation screens to sit on so i was just wondering if anyone can give me the diameter of the plastic inlet pipe and spraybar pipe that goes inside the tank?

thanks for any help, mark :good:

thanks rabbut, i got a problem then as not enought room between the end of the glass bar and the side of the tank, you think it would be ok cutting few mm off the ends of the bars? its not really doing anythin for the strength of the tank its just there to rest the glass sheets on, if not is there any other external filters for a 270l tank that are as good as a tetratec? but not over £100

well most of them still have 16mm tubes unfortunately, but there might be one or 2. im not sure.

this is what im talking about its like it in all 4 corners so i may just try and shave few mm off as some gaps are small than others and if most the filters are same i need to get round it somehow

If you are confident in your glass shaving abilities, then I cannot recommend the EX1200 enough. I had to modify my tank because it had a built in wet/dry tickle system, which I hated and I had to snap off bits of the plastic tray to fit my 16mm tubes but hey, whatever's best for the fooshies right?

well i wouldnt say im confident but can it really be that hard with the right tools? and im sure i could find someone that can help if i dont feel upto it

every review i read and everyone i spoke to say how good the tetratec filters are this is exactly why i want one for my new tank

Yeah I'm sure with the right tools and someone who could help lol that's all ya need innit?!

Those bits of glass prevent the tanks front and back glasses from bowing and thus do loads for the strength of the tank  Leave them alone or you may well have issues :good:

How thick are those braces?

The elbows for the Tetratec EX1200's are 6cm wide, so should slip over anything upto that thick. Looking at the photo, unless you are using a tank with VERY thick glass, the filter should fit, and the inlet and outlet sets will just make it over there :good:

I have just got an EX1200 and have had a EX700 before and i love it. Quite and SOOOO Easy to prime. the media is good and its 12L in size so is quite a store....

the elbows are Huge and will fit even the largest of tanks.

thanks rabbut never even come into my head they stop the bow in the glass, just measure it all up the glass is 5cm front to back so should slip over it ok i hope but the gaps at the end the one i actually pictured is dead on 20mm so that will be ok for the inlet pipe to sit in that corner but the opposite end is only 12mm gap

ill leave it how it is now i know its something to do with the structure and strength of the tank
