anyone got TMC V2Bio 1000F Fluidised Sand Bed Filter  - lots of questions

I want to run inside the cabinet and am confused what pump to get ??????
also confused to how u adjust flow to get it running right.

can i mix the sand with pearl balls or only use one type (ideally like to lower Nitrate)

would the 1000 lower nitrate a little if just run with sand.

what pre filter should i get ?

also have a fluval 405 currently, would it run from the output flow from this ????
(looking to get new tank and run 2 filters FX6 and the fluval 405)  so 405 could have more sponges etc.

any info useful as internet doesnt really show setups.

It has been about 15 years since I used a fluidized sand filter. I don't remember the brand I had, but I do remember using the Fluval 405 to power it. I just ran the output tube from the fluval to the fluidized sand input. So maybe that will answer your prefilter and power question.

Assuming you can connect the pipework (and watch the FX6 for that, they use odd pipes), then you can adjust with flow valves, a simple t-piece will allow you to have a return to the tank and have some flow going through the fluidised bed filter. It means that you end up with an extra return pipe going into the tank, but it works, and allows you to adjust the flow however you like.

Personally, I'd not mix media, you'll struggle to get the flow right to keep both media densities fluidised, unless you're very lucky.
