I've heard of people giving their fish cheese, but just wanna make sure it won't kill them before giving any to my swordtails. Anyone ever tried before?

well, I thought if they like it, it would make a good occasional treat, that's all.

wow, that's an interesting article

i put some cucumber in for my pleco, and the corys made a bit of a fuss over it!

I tried cucumber and lettuce and my swordtails nibbled on it a bit. I'm hoping they'll eat it more readily once they get used to it.

chicken balti and nam bread went down well, though they do need room in the tank afterwards when they fart.......only joking!!!!!!!

My fish get a weekly treat of deshelled peas and diced prawns as well as the odd chunk of cucumber

do all fish eat the peas?? ive often heard thats good for them but never believed it! how do you deshell a pea without it falling apart?

this is what i usually do

boil the kettle and add about an inch of boiling water to a cup,
then i add about 5-6 frozen peas and the prawns and leave them there until the peas have all sunk
then i tip away the water and tip the contents onto a chopping board,
here i deshell the peas, (just squeeze it slightly and the inside pops out) and dice the prawns thinly
and pop into the tank a few bits at a time, (i usually add the peas first because most of my fish will go for the prawn over the pea if i add them together

they absolutely LOVED the peas :hyper: it always makes me happy when my fishies like a new food that I try on them, plus, greens are supposed to be especially good for swordtails and I've been quite upset, because I haven't been able to get them to eat any frozen algae. :fun:
