Anyone Been To Aquarium Warehouse In Hanley-stoke?

im going there on saturday, im particularly interested in the marine stuff, as i want to pick up a few corals. anyone got any prices on corals? and fish?

aye, I'd also like to know, as I'll be moving to Stoke for uni and id like to know if it's any good before i move all my fishy gear down there!

BTW If you got time truck check out the swimming baths there they are awesome (lots of slides whirlpools and all that )

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but the OP hadn't given any feedback.

The Aquarium Warehouse is rubbish, it's just a small aquarium shop, it's overpriced and the fish don't look healthy (IMHO)

There's Glovers just up the road which is better in terms of they offer more products, the fish look healthier etc, but the customer service is very lacking.

We've got a Pets at Home where all the fish look very healthy, advice from shop assistant is poor though. (ie tank will be fully cycled after 24 hours with just water and dechlorinator in - and he quoted the 1cm of fish for every litre rule (which I hadn't heard of!))

Theres is also a place on the one way system on the way into stoke (stoke town, not hanley) that place seemed ok on prices, the fish looked good too, but seemed better for marine than tropical. (only been in once for a quick look as I was passing)

Best places near hanley are

Kidsgrove tropicals, family run business, Quality of service and fish is exellent, a bit crammed in there as is it a very small shop, a bit dark to so dont wear any sunglasses lol.

Ocean Reef Aquatics i think there called, they open this saturday at 10am, been down a few times, to see progress looks very good so far.

a-z aquatics in crewe about 30 minutes drive, but they have over 100 tanks so doubt you will be stuck for choice.

there is oakhanger aquatics, its run on a farm, the fish there are ok, the knowledge is rubbish dont listen to what they say, but the prices are veru good.

there is mermaids aquatics mainly marine, open at nights and weekends atm, the guy has just taken over the shop which was ru down, so the shop looks like a right mess, but have been assured over the next few months things will improve.

Got to agree with above.

Aquarium Warehouse is shocking, really bad! Loads of dead fish in tanks, poor service, the guys just sit in the back all the time.

Glovers is pretty good, but limited choice of fish in my opinion.

I used to go kidsgrove aquatics but we had a dispute after he sold my dad a faulty UV filter for the pond and refused refund.

Discount Koi and Aquatics on Lonsdale Street in stoke is quite good, near the university.

I will be getting my next cichlids from Maidenhead Aquatics in Liverpool though, i went there with a mate a few months ago and there choice of fish blew me away.

ive just found this thread via the search function so im aware its a few years old.

I went a drive up to aquarium warehouse last weekend hoping to get my hands on a Batfish, (my last one called barry passed away)

Anyway, I got there and it closed down! ive been in a few times in the past and never had a problems, depending on which member of staff I got, so i always tryied to get the same lad who seemed to know his stuff !

Does anyone know why it closed down? and for how long? have the relocated?
