hi all
I have finally set up my Jebo (LAC) 809 cannister filter
and have discovered a drip comming from one of the taps, it think
the thread has been crossed at some point in its previouse life.

I'm sure PTFE tape will cure this drip, but am concerned that the
tape contains a nasty that will effect my fish.
would PTFE tape be safe?

I'm sure it is safe but that little seed of doubt is growing in my mind the more I ruminate on it.

From here:

http://www.enflo.com/what_is_teflon_ptfe.php

PTFE stands for PolyTetraFluoroEthylene, which is the chemical term
for the polymer (CF2)n.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), (DuPont’s trademark of Teflon ®) is a thermoplastic member of the fluoropolymer family of plastics. PTFE has a low coefficient of friction, excellent insulating properties, and is chemically inert to most substances. It also can withstand high heat applications and it is well know for its anti-stick properties.

Note my bold. I would assume it is not going to leach anything into the water. Go for it!

thats the exact word I was looking for (inert); thanks andy

Edit
Just tried it and it hasn't stopped the drip.
looks like I'll have to get new taps.

Still good to know PTFE is safe

PTFE tape is safe for drinking water systems and so "should" be safe for aquatic life.
