Sure you can get pretty fish at the fish store (I have a few if I do say so myself ) When it comes to quality though you have to be willing to spend a little more to get your fish.

You're right, I didn't get a brother-sister pair but I don't breed anyways and I didn't end up paying 60-some dollars for him.

thx all and thx for the nomination. they get here tomorrow(Nancy Pace took her sweet time in shipping as i won them last tues) and i should get some good pics. i have no clue if thats the real color as those are the pictures taken for the auction. also i am going to breed them. if anyone wants to help i just found out today that when i bought my HM pair(which the male died of a mysterious fungus) that my female is a CT. im so happy. i cant decide now if i want to breed the HM trait in and take my chances on agressiveness or just breed the 2 im getting to get more great reds/oranges like this. suggestions?

i just bought a betta that looks exactly the same for 3.99us at my lfs..

So did I, only paid $3.99 for him but he's a veiltail not a crowntail... still probably one of the most vibrant oranges I've ever seen on a betta though.

actually mine is probably around 2-3 months, hes very small , i already have a red ct female for him to spawn with, so i think i get great deals, i wish everyone had a good lfs around like i do.

Ummm, I'm sorry, but why are we being mean to him because he paid extra to get better fish? If this pair is coming from Nancy Pace that means they are from overseas, and I'd guarantee they are going to be much higher quality than the prettiest fish in the lfs. Why aren't we congratulating this person who wants to breed for finding good stock to do so?

If you still want to freak out over someone spending too much on a fish...I just won two plakats on aquabid and they will cost me $150.

How'd like them apples?

Wow!!! u guys pay a lot for ur Bettas!!! Out here we only pay like $2.29 u.s. and that's for any type of Betta we want. our lfs is awesome, they special order for us anytime we want and let us know how much they're making off of it, u know, the mark-up.

sorry i accidentally deleted my praise for your wonderfully beautiful fish. He's extremely bright. My fist Betta ever looked like him, but Nemo (pre-finding Nemo, named after Cpt. Nemo in 20,000 Leagues under the Sea) died after about a year.

I'm with Sorrell, don't jump on him because he decided to spend his money on some quality breeding bettas. These aren't your typical pet store betta, even if you think you have one that looks similiar. These have been specifically bred for their coloring and finnage, and will produce fry that look the same as they do. However your pet store betta may look, you cannot guarantee the fry they will produce, as you do not know their genetics. Also, he's getting a brother-sister pair, so the fry quality will be even better.

JEESE LEWIES!!! ok im just happy i got a DOA refund. yes i will be breeding them. and as for the cost, i dont care what you really think, express it if you have it. i just like to get good stock so im sure that they will provide better fry when i breed them. thx for all the posts.

Uh, not sure, but I don't think you can enter the BOTM contest, because you didn't take the pics. Those are the ones that were on aquabid right? I might be wrong.... but anyways. If I'm not, I'm sure you'll get great pics of them when they get home anyway.
