Heyaa,

i WAS going to get 6 gouramis, and some little cories.

however, i think iv changed my mind.

im thinking of keeping my neon tetras (i have 9.) and 4 ottos.

what livebearers can i have? thinking either mollies/platies/swordtails.
what else can i have?

im thinking:
.9 neon tetras
.a pair of either mollies, platies or swordtails.
.4 ottos
.a honey gourami (would just one be ok?)

any others you would suggest instead? thanks x

if your getting honeys get 2 females and one male

one probs will be okay but if the happines of your fish is important to you...get 3

Is this for the 48l tank in your profile? If so, you really don't have a lot of room left. If you get livebearers, you will have fry unless you get 2 males. And if you do want them to breed then you need 2 females and 1 male. Otherwise, the male will harass the lone female too much. Also, I would probably go with platys or guppies as a lot of mollies and swordtails can get up to aboout 4" which is too large for the tank. You could probably put the 3 livebearers and a single honey gourami in. That would put you pretty close or over 2" per gallon which is very possibe but you would need to keep a good maintenance program and also need to make sure the filtration is adaquate.

I like harlequins.
Neon tetra are rather boring fish they just sit around, they only shoal when stressed. Plus they can nip the fins of fish which have flowing fins.
Never had any luck with honey gouramis. Plus they don't really mix to well with fish that having flowing fins.

Right am thinking of keeping my original stock of 9 neon tetras and then 4 ottos (in my 48ltr tank, if not mensioned before.)
but im thinking of getting either 6 more ottos (making me have 10 ottos) or getting 1 more otto (making me have 5 ottos) then getting 5 pygmy corys.
and then having one male red honey gourami. then when my tetras go down to about 6, adding 2 female gouramis. (aswell as lots of plants.)

that sound any good?

or stick to my original plan of getting 6 gouramis (2 male, 4 females) and then again, either 6 more ottos or 1 more otto and 5 pygmy corys. and again, more plants.

which option do you think ill go for?

simply just reply "gouramis" for the 6 gourami suggestion or "mixed" for the mixed option of tetras, gouramis, ottos and maybe corys. plus a quote or reply after it saying an opinion if you want to.

it all depends on you lot for my options lol :p

thanks guys x (ps thanks for all the replies so far.) :)

right iv decided on:

3 honey gouramis (one male to two females)
4 ottos and 5 pygmy corys or 6 ottos by themselves
then 6 neon tetras (one died today when i got back.) :(

To many bottom dwellers for your size tank.

When you say "what little fish",.... the immediate one that springs to mind is bumble bee goby.....Cute, non aggressive.... quiet disposition.

Are you counting the otos in that? I don't think I've ever seen one of my otos at the bottom of the tank.
Yes.

if you have to many bottom dwellers they can start squabbling over space.

Like I said though - I've never seen an oto at the bottom of the tank. I wouldn't class them as bottom-dwellers, personally.
