Same problem here with our pets at home i wont buy nothing from them they also give out crap advice

Try to be careful bashing LFS'. I notice a lot of people have great disdain for a lot of places and get all superior and better than thou over it. Gets kinda annoying and offensive seeing as I used to work at one and am not the typical assumption many of you potray employees to be.

My sister works in a pets at home store, and most of the employees give good advice and superb customer service. Of course you get exceptions, but you get that in every business. Anyway, in MOST cases if you ask the employees to take the dead fish out, they do it while you watch them. Pets At Home employees are very busy looking after all the animals. Don't knock it till you try it.

I happen to really like Petland. Not sure if it is outside of canada though, but as it has been said before, really it depends on the local management.

Yes, Animal Kingdom in Chicago.

They sell dogs, cats, rabbits, fish .... :grr:

They have a Coyote in a small cage (not for sale).... :grr:

Their fish are stuffed into the smallest of tanks (5g long I think)... :grr:

They sell many varieties of dyed fish.... :grr:

I don't shop there, I just stop in occasionally to start trouble.... :shifty:

If anyone wants the exact address, PM me and go see for yourself.

Sadly, it's an "old-fashioned" pet store, so they've been abusing animals for over 52 years at that location.

well all i no that pets at home is the worst fish store Iv'e ever visited, when i first started fishkeeping, i had coldwater fish, they sold me a golden orfe fish that live in ponds and grow to about 60 cm long and they've got about 6 in stock!, theres one person hoos got a clue about fish in the whole store, so i only buy fish from specialist fish stores and i ask them for a ph, nitrite, nitrate and ammonia tests before buying the fish!
I like to be careful!

my local pets at home is great, i got to be real good friends with one of the guys who worked there, and he knew loads about how to care for tropical fish (which was great because i knew hardly anythin at the beginning), anyway the worst one is at a garden centre at wyevale i got my betta from there (which started a rampant plague of ich, thankfully no casualties), the guy tried to sell me two in the same bag! :grr: they sold two plecos to my cousin before i could stop him, and then couldnt convince him to take them back, they said that they wouldnt grow and would be fine for his 25l tank
